Formaldehyde is known to be the cause of many forms skin irritation/ allergy and problem of respiratory system.

Various ways of achieving low / zero formaldehyde emission and a number of ways of enforcing these goals:-

LFE: added melamine reducing the level of reacting formalin of resin used in plywood E0 < = 0.5mg/L

CARB P2: California Air Resources Board measures the airborne toxic substance. P2 <= 0.05ppm

LEED: Requires no urea formaldehyde in resin and hence removing any amount of reacting formalin from the
